PROSIMUL II focuses on three varved lake sites continuously describing the local and continental climate history of Europe through the Late Glacial and the Holocene (Tab. 1). These main sites are complemented by the Hämelsee (Germany) and the Miesenheim profile (Germany) for reasons of spatial coverage during the European Late Glacial. At present, a single site in Eastern Asia represents the assessment of hemispheric climate patterns and climate modelling approaches.
