PROSIMUL - WHAT IT WANTS
Project members and cooperation partners intend to achieve project goals through the implementation of specific work packages and by addressing the following questions:
- Provide a robust tree-ring based decadal radiocarbon calibration time series for the Late Glacial and the Holocene.
- Synchronization of PROSIMUL Late Glacial dendrochronlogical and lacustrine records with ice core records.
- Characterization of modern lake system dynamics and processes and identification of the geo-biologic response to climate.
- Investigation of proxy signal generation processes in lakes and development of transfer functions as basis for quantitative reconstructions of changes in temperature and precipitation.
- Evaluation of stable isotope proxies as climate indicators.
- Detection of periods with extreme climates; timing, magnitude and rates of episodes of rapid climate and ecological changes.
- Extraction of quantitative climate proxies from synchronized records to draw a consistent picture of climate development within Europe and along a transect across the Alps.
- Analyze climate teleconnections between Europe, the Americas and Asia based on synchronized records.
- Detection of regional climate forcing mechanisms.
- Comparison of modern climate variability with natural annual to centennial climate variability during specific time periods.
- Comparison of numerically simulated climate variability as derived from ECHO-G and other available GCMs runs with natural climate variability derived from proxy-data for different time periods.
- Develop scenarios for the regional impact of future climate change.
